Keventer's Milk Bar

Keventer's (in Connaught Place, right in the center of Delhi), is actually a very small shop. If you pass it, you would not notice the shop, but you might (most probably will) notice the crowd outside the shop. It is located where the radial road for PanchKuan Marg begins, almost on the inner circle. Why is it so famous ?
Well, it has been there for a long time. I was reading an article in the Hindu Online by Ruskin Bond which talks about his life in Delhi in 1942 (that's right, 65 years back) and he mentioned going to Keventer's. That was a long long time back.
You get a few varieties of milk shakes over there (along with assorted ice cream shakes and a few short eats). It is the milk shakes that are very famous, and for which people keep on coming back.
Available in Vanilla, Pineapple, Strawberry, Mango, Chocolate, Butter Scotch, Coffee and may a few others that I can't remember. These are sold in a bottle (to be returned), that are actually the bottles in which milk used to be available for household consumption (although I have not seen these bottles being used for a long time now).
For me, the charm is such that whenever I go to CP for some work, I try to make my way to Keventer's to have some nice flavoured cold milk shake.

Radisson Great Kebab factory

This eatery is an incredible experience. The Great Kebab factory is a dream come true for kebab lover's who want great ambience and comfortable sorroundings.
What is a kebab ? It is a type of grilled meat (although a great variety is available). Read Wikipedia.
So what is the Radisson Kebab factory ? It is a chain of upmarket eateries where a person can enjoy a number of kebabs (meat based / a number of vegetarian types). For a set price, you can eat an unlimited number of kebabs as well as some great lentils and Indian breads (Roomali roti / others). This is an experience that one should have, it does seem a bit expensive, but the overall experience is very good.
In Delhi, there are 2 places where the restaurant is available. Both however are not so easily accessible. One restaurant is available in the Radisson hotel (on the way to the International Airport), and the other is in the Noida Sector 18 market as a stand-alone restaurant.

1. Radisson hotel (near Airport): +91 11 26137373
2. Noida: + 91 120 - 2515880 - 86

On weekends, it is best if you reserve before you go.

Chaat - at UPSC (Delhi)

The pleasures of eating different kinds of chaat is unmeasurable. For the converted, eating chaat is an essential item to get the required spice and tang in life. Popular types include bhel puri, dahi puri, panipuri, dahi vada, papdi chaat, and sev puri. There are numerous types of chaat available, can refer to the following links for more information on the types and some recipes. Learn about chaat at Wikipedia. Check out a few recipes here, and here.
Anyhow, one famous chaat place in Delhi is the UPSC chaatwalla next to UPSC, Shahjahan Road. It is very famous, and very acclaimed. If you don't know the location that I am referring to, it is the Road between India Gate and the Taj Man Singh.
Now there are numerous other chatwallahs in Delhi, and I don't want to risk getting into a war in terms of which is better and which is not. Some other places that are good are the outlets of Bikanerwala, Haldiram and Nathu's. These are spread all over Delhi, so they should be close to wherever you live.

Malls in North Delhi

A gap between the posts, got somewhat busy, and was not able to find enough information on what I was looking for. This is the concluding post on the topic of malls in Delhi, and this particular post covers North Delhi malls.
I wasn't able to find too many malls, except for these 2 in Pitampura (if people can let me know of more malls, I will add them).

Malls in Pitampura:

Netaji Subhash Place: Located in Wazirpur District Centre, Pitampura (near the TV tower). It has several towers and malls, and a variety of eating places. The Delhi Metro (Shahdra - Rithala line). This complex also houses the North Square Mall.

Mamram Majesty Mall: This is another mall in Pitampura. Sadly, I have no futher information on this mall other than its location: Guru Harkishan Marg, (Near Dost Police Post), Pitampura.

Malls in West Delhi

So far I have 2 posts that covered malls in East Delhi and South Delhi. I live pretty far away from West Delhi, so really don't have too much info on malls in West Delhi. I did some research and asked a couple of people, and got a bit of information, but this post will be pretty bare.
I got a total of 3 malls in West Delhi, but that really should not worry people too much. Karol Bagh is like one large non-airconditioned, slightly dirty open air mall.
Rajouri Garden in West Delhi has 2 malls:
TDI Mall and City Square
Vikaspuri at the extreme West part of Delhi has 1 mall
AEZ square.
There are a number of malls that are coming up in parts of West Delhi, but the current position is that there are 3 malls that I know about. Of course, if people can give some reviews, then it would be ideal.

Malls in South Delhi and beyond

In continuation of a post that I made earlier where I enumerated malls in East Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad, I am trying to enumerate the list of malls in South Delhi, Faridabad and Gurgaon. Gurgaon typically is a place that I would classify as the mall champion, because the trinity of malls on the MG Road enlivens the whole place and draws in a large number of people from South Delhi who just have to go and see these malls. What helps is that all these malls have a very high sense of style, and are packed with shopping and entertainment options.

Malls in South Delhi:
Ansal Plaza (on Khel Gaon Marg): This mall has lost some of its sheen due to a number of other malls coming up. At one point of time, this was the only place that people in Delhi could go to for a shopping experience, and there were few people who were not impressed. I have always liked the architecture of the place with 2 separate arches forming two separate hemispheres. It is a good place for some clothes shopping, but be prepared to spend for the branding.
The India Mall (New Friends Colony): On this mall, I am blank. I have never been there, so unable to express an opinion. I found this in a listing elsewhere, so am assuming that it exists.
3C's Mall (Lajpat Nagar): It has a few shops, a nice (although somewhat claustrophobic) food court and movie halls. It ain't very big, and the whole locality can be fairly crowded. Advantage of this place is that if you are looking for something and don't find it in the mall, you are very likely to find it in the adjacent Lajpat market.
There are no more malls in South Delhi, unless one is prepared to count the whole of the South Extension market as one big open mall.

Malls in Faridabad:
There are a number of malls coming up in Faridabad, and I believe that all of them are coming up on the highway, but as of now, there are only 2 malls open in Faridabad.
Ansal Crown Plaza: Located almost in the center of Faridabad, it has a number of large brands for clothing, electronics, etc. In addition, there are a variety of eating options. It has a large open air terrace and is used to host hot and happening parties. I have not been to this mall, so unable to make any comment. If any reader is able to send in some sort of comments on this mall, then I will be able to add anything further.
SRS World: Has PVR cinemas. Is located in Sector 12 of Faridabad. Food options are wide and varied. It has plenty of parking and is located amidst greenery giving a good sorrounding.

Malls in Gurgaon:
Gurgaon could have at one point been called the mall capital of Delhi, but now Ghaziabad and Noida also have a large number of malls. Even then, Gurgaon has a fair number of malls and they bring in the crowds like anything.
DLF City Center: It opened up on MG Road in 2000 and has been attracting crowds ever since. This is one of the 3 malls located close to each other on MG Road that actually end up reducing the speed of traffic on the road (due to the crowds that they keep on pulling in).
Sahara Mall: The 2nd of the malls next to each other on MG Road. This is the first one that a person can see if they are coming from the Delhi side. Also pretty large, and can get pretty crowded.
MGF Metropolitan: This is the 3rd that I was talking about. It is also fairly glitzy, and also provides a range of shopping experiences.
Gold Souk: This is a slightly different experience. This is a mall that focuses on jewellery with a range of leading gold and jewellery makers being present. This mall is disabled and elderly friendly and also provides a good eating experience.
DLF Mega Mall: This mall, not located on MG Road, is instead located on the sector road leading to the DLF Golf and Country club. It is a 3 storied building with 2 basements. This mall has a 3 screen multiplex and a fairly impressive food court (friends who went there liked the place).
